Biographies Born in Parry Sound, Ontario, in 1955, Eleanor Daley received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Organ Performance from Oueen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and holds diplomas in piano and organ from the Royal Oonservatory of Music, Toronto and Trinity Oollege, England. She has been the Director of Music at Fairlawn Avenue United Ohurch in Toronto, Ontario since 1982. During this time, she has established a thriving choral program for which much of her music has been composed, thanks to the continuing support and talent of her choirs. Eleanor has over 140 published choral compositions, and is commissioned extensively throughout North America. Included in her choral works written specifically her church choirs are dozens of anthems, 14 Missae Breves, five pageants, and hundreds of descants, introits and psalm settings. Pier compositions have been widely performed, recorded, and aired throughout North America, Great Britain, Europe, South Africa and the Ear East. Eleanor’s works are published by 11 publishing houses in Canada, the United States and Great Britain, including Oxford University Press (US and UK), Alliance Music Publications Inc., Elinshaw Music, Rhythmic Trident Publishing, the Royal Canadian College of Organists, Santa Barbara Music Publishing Inc., Treble Clef Press and Walton Music. During her time as director of music at Fairlawn, Eleanor has overseen the production of four CDs. Canticle to the Spirit and What Sweeter Music feature 44 of her choral compositions. Magnificat Live! features the Magnificats of John Rutter and Jonathan Willcocks (Canadian Premiere), and Gloria features the Canadian premiere of Mark Elayes’ Gloria, and Christmas choral works by Eleanor and other Canadian, American and British composers. http://fairiawnchurch.ca/music MacMillan Singers, a highly auditioned ensemble comprising many of the Faculty of Music’s finest singers, explores a broad range of repertoire. This year, the group will sing the chorus role in the spring opera production of Benjamin Britten’s Paul Bunyan. MacMillan Singers have performed at conferences of Choral Canada and the American Choral Directors Association, and have collaborated with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the UTSO, as well as with several prominent choral groups in the Toronto area. The Women’s Chamber Choir was founded in 2011 as a means of providing challenging choral experiences for talented treble singers in the Faculty of Music. They have sung with the UTSO, collaborated with the Men’s Chorus, appeared with Orpheus Choir of Toronto and hosted a women’s chorus festival. In 2014, members of the Women’s Chamber Choir sang at Lincoln Centre for International Women’s Day as part of a chorus of 200 women from around the world. Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt is professor of choral sfudies and Elmer Iseler Chair of Conducfing af fhe Universify of Toronto. An alumnus of fhe Facuify of Music, she was appoinfed to fhls posiflon In 2010.
